Bred by Ralph Moore (USA) in 1971, 'Green Ice' is a distinctive miniature rose prized for its unusual color transformation: buds open pale pink, the flowers then turn white, and finally age to a soft apple-green — one of the most striking color progressions in the rose world. Small rosette blooms of 3–4cm are produced prolifically and repeatedly from spring through autumn. At 30–50cm, it is ideally suited to container growing on balconies and windowsills. Disease resistance is good, making it an excellent choice for beginner gardeners working in limited spaces. The unusual green coloring also makes it popular in floral arrangements. Regular deadheading keeps energy directed toward new flowers; cutting back to one-third in winter ensures vigorous regrowth the following spring.
