Venus Flytrap Dentate

Dentate (Dionaea muscipula 'Dentate') is a Venus flytrap cultivar distinguished by its short, broad, triangular trap teeth (cilia) that replace the typical long, slender cilia of the wild-type plant. These dentate-edged traps create a notably more powerful and aggressive appearance while retaining the same snap-trap mechanism triggered by two contacts with the sensory hairs within 20 seconds. Growing requirements are identical to the species: acidic, nutrient-poor media, tray watering with pure or rainwater only, strong direct sunlight, and no fertilizer. A cold winter dormancy at 5–10°C is mandatory. Adult plants typically measure 5–12 cm in diameter. The cultivar's unique serrated trap profile makes it a favorite among collectors.
