Utricularia Calycifida

Utricularia calycifida is a terrestrial to epiphytic bladderwort native to humid tropical environments in Brazil, Venezuela, and neighboring countries, growing on moist rock faces, mossy logs, and in peaty forest soils. It is distinguished by its relatively large flowers—among the most ornamentally impressive in the genus—which are a rich violet to lavender and held above broad, dark-green leaves. The microscopic suction traps in the root system capture soil microorganisms. In cultivation it is a popular choice for terrariums and heated greenhouses, requiring consistently moist sphagnum or peat-based media, high humidity, bright indirect light, and warm temperatures of 20–28°C. Cold tolerance is low. Its combination of attractive foliage and large, showy flowers makes it highly sought after among Utricularia enthusiasts.
