Nepenthes Sanguinea

Nepenthes sanguinea is an intermediate to highland species native to the mountains of peninsular Malaysia and southern Thailand, occurring at moderate to high elevations. Its Latin name ('blood-red') alludes to the intense red to orange coloration that well-grown plants develop under bright light, though color is highly variable with green and mottled forms also documented. The species is noted for its robustness and adaptability across a temperature range of approximately 15–28°C, making it one of the more accessible intermediate Nepenthes for growers transitioning from lowland species. Cultivation requires sphagnum media, 60–80% humidity, and some day-to-night temperature variation to encourage pitcher production and coloration. It is commonly available in cultivation and is frequently recommended for intermediate-level growers.
