Seahorses have unique care requirements that differ significantly from typical marine fish. Choosing captive-bred specimens is the first step to successful keeping.

• 60cm+ tank with 40cm+ height (vertical swimming space is critical)

Feeding

Frozen mysis shrimp twice daily as the staple, supplemented with frozen brine shrimp and copepods. Use a feeding station (dish on the bottom) and remove uneaten food promptly.

Male Pregnancy

Male seahorses brood young in a specialized pouch. Females deposit eggs into the male's pouch, and after 2-3 weeks of brooding, the male "gives birth" to dozens or hundreds of miniature seahorses.
