Lemonpeel Angelfish

The lemonpeel angelfish (Centropyge flavissima) is a dwarf angelfish of the family Pomacanthidae found on coral reefs throughout the Indo-Pacific region. Its uniformly vivid yellow body accented by electric blue rings around the eyes and blue trim on the pectoral and dorsal fins gives it a pristine, jewel-like appearance. Although superficially similar to the yellow tang, it is distinguished by the distinctive blue ocular ring and body shape. Strongly herbivorous, it grazes readily on algae growing on live rock. It has a tendency to nip at coral polyps, making it a risk in dedicated reef aquariums. Territorial toward conspecifics and related species; solitary keeping is generally recommended. A stable, well-maintained 120-litre or larger aquarium is required for long-term success.
