Red Oranda

The Red Oranda is an Oranda variety in which the entire body is covered in a deep, uniform red or crimson coloration, complemented by the characteristic wen (head growth) of the Oranda line. The combination of rich scarlet body color and a well-developed wen creates a particularly opulent appearance. In shows, depth and intensity of the red coloration are important criteria alongside wen quality and body shape—individuals with deep crimson hues are preferred over pale orange-red individuals. The body form and care requirements follow standard Oranda practice: round egg-shaped body, long double tail fins, spacious tanks of 60 liters or more, stable temperature of 18–25°C, and clean water to support wen health. Natural pigment-enhancing foods containing astaxanthin can help intensify and maintain the depth of the red coloration. Moderate feeding is important to prevent swim bladder disorder.
