Cross between Sphynx and American Curl. Hairless with curled ears, an elf-like rare breed.
The Elf Cat is a designer hybrid breed developed in the United States in the early 2000s by breeders Karen Nelson and Kristen Leedom, created by crossing the Sphynx with the American Curl. The result is a hairless or nearly hairless cat with the Curl's distinctive backward-curling ears, giving it an otherworldly, elf-like appearance. Like the Sphynx, the Elf Cat requires regular bathing and warm living conditions due to the absence of fur. They are highly social, affectionate, and intelligent cats. The breed is not recognized by major cat registries and is considered experimental. Health concerns include hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) and skin issues.
