The lutino cockatiel is a colour mutation of the cockatiel in which melanin pigmentation is absent, resulting in a predominantly yellow and white bird with orange cheek patches and red eyes. It is the most popular colour mutation of the cockatiel and is genetically sex-linked. Lutino cockatiels may develop a bald patch behind the crest, a trait associated with the lutino mutation. In temperament and care requirements, they are identical to the wild-type grey cockatiel.
