What is FLUTD (Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease) in Cats?

FLUTD (Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease) is a collective term for diseases related to the lower urinary tract (bladder and urethra) in cats. It is commonly seen in cats, particularly in male cats, and can develop into life-threatening emergencies (urethral obstruction) without proper management.

The most important preventive measure for urinary tract diseases is increasing water intake. Diluting the urine reduces the risk of stone formation.

Using Wet Food

Dry food contains approximately 10% water, while wet food contains approximately 70-80%. Simply incorporating wet food as the main diet significantly increases water intake.

Water Tips
