Pandamedaka is an improved variety named for its giant-panda-like appearance, where the transparent-scale trait makes the eye area appear dark and prominent, like panda eye markings. Transparent scales lack normal pigment, causing dark pigment around the eyes to stand out. Some individuals show faint translucence of internal organs. Bright environments and white containers best reveal the panda eye pattern. Transparent-scale x transparent-scale crosses increase panda-eyed offspring. Hardy in 5–30°C, neutral to slightly alkaline water. Easy to breed with regular spawning. Peaceful and community-friendly. Particularly popular among younger medaka enthusiasts.
