Complete dwarf puffer care: feeding live and frozen foods, aggression management, tank setup, sexing, and captive breeding.
The Dwarf Puffer (Carinotetraodon travancoricus) is the world's smallest freshwater pufferfish at just 2.5cm. Despite their tiny size, these fish have big personalities and unique care requirements.
20L+ tank, 24-28C, pH 7.0-8.0, GH 5-15, gentle flow.
Dwarf puffers resist prepared foods. Primary diet is frozen bloodworms (best acceptance), supplemented with frozen brine shrimp and live snails. Hard-shelled snails (Ramshorn) help wear down continuously growing teeth. Some individuals can be trained to accept pellets with patience.
Despite their small size, dwarf puffers nip fins of other fish, eat shrimp, and consume snails. Same-species groups are possible with adequate hiding spots and space.
Males are darker with a line behind the eye. Eggs are deposited in plant thickets, hatch in 5-7 days, and fry require infusoria.
Bri-Choku offers healthy dwarf puffers. Verify feeding status with the breeder before purchase.
