Medaka eggs are surprisingly robust but require proper management to maximize hatch rates and prevent fungal contamination.
Check spawning beds each morning. Gently remove eggs by hand (they're tough enough to handle). Transfer to a separate container.
Fertile: Clear to slightly yellow, elastic when pressed. Infertile: White and cloudy, soft. Remove infertile eggs immediately to prevent fungus spread.
Use tap water (chlorine inhibits fungus). Change water daily. Keep at 25C for optimal development. Separate eggs from each other.
Medaka eggs follow the '250 degree-day' rule: 20C = ~12-13 days, 25C = ~10 days, 28C = ~9 days.
