Veiltail Goldfish

The Veiltail is a fancy goldfish celebrated for its extraordinarily long, thin tail fins that trail behind the fish like a delicate veil or flowing fabric. The tail can reach 1.5 to 2 times the body length, and its graceful, billowing movement in water gives the Veiltail an unmatched elegance among goldfish varieties. In competitive shows, tail length, thinness, symmetry, and the quality of its flow are paramount judging criteria. The fins are highly sensitive to water current and can tear or deform if exposed to strong flow, so minimal-current filtration is essential. Poor water quality leads to fin rot, making frequent water changes critical to maintaining fin health. Veiltails are slow, docile swimmers that should only be kept with similarly unhurried varieties. Tank size of 45 liters or more, stable temperature of 18–25°C, and neutral pH are recommended.
