Oranda body type with calico (tricolor) pattern. Beautiful mix of red, white, and black coloring.
The Azuma Nishiki is a Japanese-developed goldfish that combines the body form of the Oranda with a nacreous calico (tricolor) pattern, creating one of the most visually striking fancy goldfish available. The mosaic-like blend of red, white, black, and pale blue coloration is unique to each individual, giving keepers a one-of-a-kind fish. Like the Oranda, the Azuma Nishiki develops a fleshy wen on its head, and the combination of wen and translucent calico scales produces a particularly luxurious appearance. It thrives in tanks of 60 liters or more with stable water quality; the wen's crevices should be monitored for debris buildup. Azuma Nishiki are slow swimmers best kept with similarly paced varieties, and their colors can be enhanced with color-enhancing foods and appropriate lighting.
