Vallisneria nana
A small vallisneria with thin leaves swaying coolly. Hardy and easy for beginners to grow.
Vallisneria nana is a small Vallisneria native to northern Australia, characterized by narrow leaves approximately 2–4 mm wide extending to around 30 cm in length. Its leaves are more slender than standard Vallisneria, and the sight of them swaying in water current evokes a natural riverbed environment. It propagates vigorously by runners and is hardy enough to grow without CO2 under low lighting conditions, making it an excellent background plant. It demonstrates impressive adaptability, tolerating alkaline water around pH 9 and occasionally being used in goldfish or brackish water tanks. Solid substrate fertilizer applied near the roots is effective, while potassium-focused liquid fertilizer enhances leaf color. A highly versatile aquatic plant suitable for a wide range of aquariums from beginner to advanced setups.
