Tancho Oranda

The Tancho Oranda combines the Oranda's characteristic body form and wen development with the Tancho coloration pattern—a pure white body with red appearing only on the head wen, evoking the elegant appearance of Japan's Red-crowned Crane. This striking contrast of red and white, with the red precisely concentrated on the head, is both visually powerful and deeply connected to Japanese aesthetic tradition. Show standards require that the white body be absolutely free of red pigmentation, and that the red wen be symmetrical, vivid, and confined to the head top. Maintaining the white body color demands exceptionally clean water; algae growth and poor water quality cause yellowing and fading. Care requires a tank of 60 liters or more, reliable filtration, regular water changes, stable temperature of 18–25°C, and careful feeding to prevent swim bladder problems. The wen's folds should be inspected regularly for early signs of bacterial infection.
