Pachypodium densiflorum grows in the central highlands of Madagascar, recognized by its stocky, rounded to ovoid caudex densely covered in spines. In spring to early summer it produces masses of vivid yellow flowers—densely packed, as its name suggests—creating a spectacular flowering display. Its distinctively squat form sets it apart from the more pear-shaped P. gracilius. Growth is slow. Full sun, highly porous soil, generous watering during growth, and complete winter drought are essential. Minimum temperature 10°C.
