The stem base is slightly swollen, with somewhat succulent stems bearing elongated leaves. Flowers are the characteristic flat, shield-like hypocrateriforms of the Dorstenia genus. The plant self-pollinates and forcibly ejects seeds, naturally spreading itself around the growing area—a charming trait that collectors enjoy.
